1. What career did you aspire to pursue when you were a child?
When I was a child, I aspired to become a teacher. I admired several of my teachers because they were knowledgeable, patient, and capable of making lessons engaging. At the time, I believed teaching was a meaningful profession, as it allowed people to share knowledge and positively influence the lives of younger generations.
2. What field of study did you actually choose at university?
At university, I ultimately chose to major in Marketing. Although it was somewhat different from my initial interests, I was drawn to the field because of its dynamic nature and strong relevance to real-world business activities. In particular, I found consumer behaviour and digital marketing strategies especially intriguing, which made the subject both practical and intellectually engaging.
3. Did your parents influence your choice of major?
My parents did have some influence on my decision, but they never forced me to choose a particular major. They mainly encouraged me to select a field with good career prospects and stable employment opportunities. In the end, I made the final decision myself and chose to study Marketing after carefully considering both my interests and future job prospects.
4. Are you currently working in the field that you studied?
Yes, to a certain extent. I initially worked in marketing for about five years after graduating, which was directly aligned with my academic background. Later on, I transitioned into sales, where I have accumulated four years of experience, including my current role. I actually see marketing and sales as closely interconnected disciplines, as both require a deep understanding of customer behaviour and play a complementary role in driving business performance.
5. What do you enjoy most about your current job?
What I enjoy most about my current job in sales is the opportunity to interact with a wide range of people on a daily basis. I find it particularly rewarding to communicate with customers, understand their needs, and propose suitable solutions that can genuinely support them. In addition, I also value the relationship-building aspect of the job, as maintaining long-term, positive connections with clients and colleagues makes the work both meaningful and enjoyable.
6. What are your plans to develop your career in the future?
In the future, I plan to further develop my career in both sales and marketing, as I believe these two fields are closely connected and mutually supportive. I aim to strengthen my expertise in areas such as customer relationship management and digital marketing strategies, while also improving my negotiation and communication skills. Additionally, I intend to pursue professional training courses and stay updated with industry trends in order to enhance my competitiveness and gradually progress into a more strategic role.
7. If you had the chance, would you choose a different major now?
No, I don’t think I would choose a different major now. My academic background has been highly relevant to my current work in both sales and marketing. It provided me with a solid foundation in understanding consumer behaviour, market dynamics, and communication strategies, all of which I apply regularly in my job. Moreover, working across these two closely related fields has allowed me to develop a well-rounded skill set, so I feel satisfied with my original choice.
