One of the most memorable experiences I had during my university years was taking part in a one-month military training course in my first year.
It happened during the summer semester when all freshmen were required to complete the program as part of the university curriculum. At the time, I was still adjusting to university life, so spending an entire month away from home with hundreds of other students was a completely new experience for me. During the course, we followed a highly structured daily routine. We woke up early, participated in physical training sessions, attended classes on discipline and teamwork, and took part in various group activities. Since we spent almost every day together, we quickly became close friends.
What I enjoyed most was the practical side of the course. We were taught a variety of useful skills, including basic first aid, how to bandage injuries, how to assemble and disassemble a rifle, and how to move in military formations. We also learned different military postures and had the chance to practice target aiming. Since most of these activities were completely new to me, I found them both fascinating and educational. They gave me valuable knowledge that could potentially be useful in emergency situations.
What makes this experience so memorable is that it taught me valuable life lessons. I learned the importance of discipline, teamwork, and resilience. It also helped me become more independent and confident, as I had to adapt to a completely different environment. Looking back, although the training was physically and mentally challenging, it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my university life. Even today, many of the friendships I formed during that month remain strong, which is why I remember the experience so fondly.
