Mẫu IELTS Writing: Có nên tham gia CLB hay đi làm thêm không?

Some people believe that university students should focus only on their academic studies, while others think they should also spend time on part-time jobs and extracurricular activities such as clubs and volunteering. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In recent years, there has been ongoing debate about whether university students should dedicate all their time to academic study or also engage in part-time work and extracurricular activities. While focusing on academics is undeniably important, I believe that participating in outside activities is equally beneficial for students’ overall development.

On the one hand, concentrating solely on studies allows students to achieve higher academic performance. This is due to the fact that university education is often demanding, and subjects such as medicine, engineering, or law require intensive learning and concentration. As a result, if students divide their time between study and other commitments, they may struggle to maintain good grades or fully understand complex concepts. For instance, medical students who spend too much time on part-time jobs may not have enough time to revise essential materials or practice clinical skills. Therefore, for those aiming at highly competitive careers, prioritizing academic achievement can be a logical choice.

On the other hand, engaging in part-time jobs and extracurricular activities provides valuable practical experience that cannot be gained in the classroom. This is because such activities expose students to real-life situations. For example, working part-time helps students develop time management skills, financial independence, and workplace communication. In addition, joining clubs or volunteer organizations improves teamwork and leadership abilities. As a result, these experiences are highly valued by employers and can significantly increase graduates’ employability after university. In particular, students who actively participate in such activities often have a competitive advantage in the job market.

In my opinion, the ideal approach is a balanced one. Students should prioritize their studies but also allocate reasonable time for extracurricular activities. This balance not only enhances academic learning but also prepares them for real-world challenges after graduation.

In conclusion, although academic focus is essential, I believe that university students should not ignore opportunities to work part-time or participate in extracurricular activities, as these experiences play a crucial role in their personal and professional development.
