a. Introduction
The diagram illustrates the process of producing tomato ketchup, from harvesting fresh tomatoes to delivering the finished product to supermarkets for consumption.
b. Overview
Overall, the production of tomato ketchup involves 15 stages, starting with the harvesting and sorting of fresh tomatoes and ending with the distribution of bottled ketchup to supermarkets for consumption.
c. Body Paragraph 1 & 2
At the initial stage, ripe tomatoes are picked by hand and placed into baskets before being sorted to remove any inferior fruit. Only high-quality tomatoes are then transported by truck to a factory for further processing. Upon arrival, the stalks, skins, and seeds are removed, leaving the edible flesh. This material is subsequently transferred into large containers, where it is thoroughly crushed to form a pulp.
Next, various ingredients, namely sugar, vinegar, and salt, are added to the crushed tomatoes. The mixture is then boiled and left to rest for approximately two hours, allowing it to thicken and develop flavour. Once this stage is complete, the ketchup is poured into bottles, which are labelled and subjected to quality control checks. Finally, the approved products are packed into boxes, delivered to supermarkets, and ultimately consumed, commonly alongside foods such as hamburgers and fries.
